ABOUT THE  PROGRAM

Art and Play as doors to strategic insight

The power of facilitation is the power of creating spaces for collaborative learning, reflection, exploration. Helping the people and the systems we serve outsmart complexity and break through their patterns as they carve their vision and their actions for their impact in the world.

More often than not, outsmarting complexity is about outsmarting our rehearsed narrative, ways of thinking, and relating to challenges. Recognising when our operating patterns have gone on autopilot keeping us stuck, frustrated and confused. Accepting that our knowledge may have an expiry date, stepping into the space of not-knowing.

Art and Play can serve as powerful tools to help us open up for new perspectives, hear each other in a deeper manner, see what needs to be seen, speak the unspoken. They can help us dream together more boldly, think together more effectively, make decisions together more wisely.

And yet, they are “just” a tool. To use them successfully we need knowledge, skill and attitude.

There are 3 key pillars of success of your facilitARTtion:

  • The effectiveness of your process design

  • The appropriate choice of facilitation tools

  • Who you are and how you show up in you in your role as a “game master”

This program offers a space for us as a community of learners to dive deep into the exploration of the craft of Art and Play as facilitation tools. Let’s level up our toolbox and explore who we are and who we can be as we shape the future of collaboration effectiveness.

Join us in Zagreb, 29-31 January 2025

HOW WILL WE WORK?

The workshop is designed as a facilitated, collaborative action learning process that allows participants to experience the power and value of well-crafted and well hosted participatory engagement using ART and PLAY.

The aim is to deepen our understanding of the power, potential and challenges of using creative tools and games in helping our clients facing complex strategic challenges.

We will use a variety of associative tools and techniques (color, clay, brick, photography) and various types of methods and interactions (small group/caffe conversations, dyad, plenary, self-reflection) to facilitate sharing and insight around participants current practices, experiences, and beliefs around the use of Art and Play in facilitation.

It is an interactive, experiential process (90%) with small bits of teaching (10%) in terms of do’s and don’ts and connecting the dots towards IAF core competencies and values.

Some of the questions we will explore:

  • How do we use Art and Play right now in our practice?

  • Is there a difference in using Art and Play in ice-breakers and team-building vs strategy development, strategy evaluation and decision making?

  • What are the limiting beliefs or miss-conceptions we might be holding towards Art and Play in facilitation?

  • What are the challenges we are facing in using Art and Play in facilitation – especially in facilitating strategic insight, business planning and change management?

  • What are the key pillars of success in translating creative insights into tangible business outcomes?

  • Risks and pitfalls - When should we NOT use Art and Play in facilitation?

  • Bringing it home – how can Art and Play shape your future – your growth and your impact as a facilitator

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

  • You may see yourself as a beginner, but this is not your first encounter with the world of facilitator – you have some basic  understanding of what facilitation and the role of facilitator is, and you want to expand your view and your toolbox with creative tools to help you grow your impact as a facilitator

  • You feel you have a solid facilitation experience and also some bias towards the purpose and power of creative expression and play as “serious” business support tools

  • You believe in the power of creativity and play as a tool, maybe you are even a certified facilitator in a specific method or tool (Lego Serious Play, Points of You, Flow game … ) but you feel you lack confidence in working with these methods or need support in building an effective process and choosing the “right” tool

  • You are an experienced facilitation professional, you work with art and play as your tools and you believe in revisiting foundations and the power of community and learning together with like-minded professionals
